Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn College – Brenham and Houston Community College (HCC) – Spring Branch
The Dwight Look College of Engineering is extending the Texas A&M Engineering Academies to Blinn College – Brenham & Houston Community College – Spring Branch. Both incoming and continuing students at Blinn – Brenham and HCC – Spring Branch will have the opportunity to apply directly to the Engineering Academy at their respective campus. Admitted students will co-enroll at Blinn College/HCC and Texas A&M. To be eligible for admission consideration applicants must be pre-calculus or calculus ready at the time of application.
Students who successfully complete the Academy by the first Summer term following their second year with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 at both institutions (as calculated by Texas A&M) will be guaranteed admission into Texas A&M for the following fall term and are eligible to apply for a degree-granting major in the Dwight Look College of Engineering. If a student is not admitted into his/her requested engineering major, Engineering Academy advisors will help the student identify another major (in or outside of engineering) at Texas A&M. Students will not gain full admission until a major has been identified.
Dwight Look College of Engineering – Freshman Admission Process
Once the College of Engineering reaches 75% of its capacity for admitted freshman students, all remaining seats in Engineering (25%) will be filled by students who have gone through the holistic review process. This includes students who qualify for automatic admission to the university. Last year, of the more than 2000 students who went through the Engineering review process, less than 400 were fully admitted to Engineering. Applicants who qualify for automatic admission, should be encouraged to apply early and completely fill out the ApplyTexas application for the best opportunity to secure an Engineering major.
2015 Admissions Freshman Profile
In total, 21,200 students have been offered admission to the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2019! The deadline to accept admission has passed.
